Recently, for the first time, grants were awarded from STEF's Music Health Fund. This is a new fund whose aim is to facilitate access to music for health-promoting purposes.
The fund is the idea of the couple Andrés Arnalds and Guðrún Pálmadóttir, and the foundation contribution of the fund comes from them. Their children, Ólafur, Friða, Ásdís and Ari, then launched this good idea in collaboration with STEF.
A total of 39 applications were received this time, seven of which were approved Among them was Hrafnista's rehabilitation team's application to purchase the INMU relax sensory stimulation devices.
Five devices have been purchased and will be used at Hrafnista Ísafold, Skógarbær and Boðaþing. INMU relax is an interactive sensory stimulation device that converts movement into soothing music. The device produces music and vibration when touched and moved. The music changes depending on how the device is moved and touched, and it can therefore be said that those who use the device are playing it with their movements and touch. This is effortless and does not require any specific skills or skills, and is therefore also suitable for people with advanced dementia. Each person creates their calming musical world through touch and movement, even people with severe motor and cognitive impairments. The goal is to use this approach in such a way that music is used as an active treatment tool in daily care and rehabilitation, to improve anxiety and restlessness, and promote relationships. It is possible to use these devices in a variety of ways, but to start with residents's need to maintain their relationships and to keep their relatives in order to be used.
The project will be led by Hrafnista's Rehabilitation Team, which includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists and leisure and sociolinguists.
