An improved, elegant and bright equipment room at Hrafnista in Laugarás was officially inaugurated yesterday. Gígja Þórðardóttir, head of the rehabilitation department, gave a talk in which she reviewed the department's activities and the changes and improvements that have been undertaken. She emphasized the importance of encouraging staff and good facilities in rehabilitation and the positive development that new facilities will have on the business. The new devices are Finnish HUR devices from Fastus. They offer many possibilities to improve individualized services, monitor progress and be able to take out numerical facts about use and results. They are quiet, user-friendly and have proven to be very successful in many parts of Iceland.
At the ceremony, a new name for the equipment room was also revealed. A naming competition had been held and around 100 proposals were received from both residents and staff, but the hall was named Slippirinn.
Reverend Daníel Ágúst Gautason, who is also an employee in the rehabilitation department, inaugurated the hall and blessed the activities with warm words and good wishes for successful activities for the future.
After the inauguration, the ribbon was cut. The assistant department heads of the rehabilitation department, Jóhanna Björk Viktorsdóttir and Ásdís Ármannsdóttir held the banner while Gígja Þórðardóttir, head of the department, Emilía Brynja Sveinsdóttir, who has worked in the rehabilitation department for many years, and Sigrún Stefánsdóttir, director of Hrafnista in Laugarás, cut the banner.

The opening marks an important step in the continued development and strengthening of services at Hrafnista in Laugarás. With improved facilities and equipment, even better conditions are created for the rehabilitation of those who use the department's services.
