Hrafnista is a subsidiary of the Seamen's Day Council, but the company traces its history until 1957 when Hrafnista Laugarás started operating. Hrafnistu's philosophy

Hrafnista is the home of people and Hrafnista's philosophy is that the activities and procedures of departments are flexible and depend on the needs of the individual himself. The philosophy is the heart of Hrafnista's activities, but in parallel with it, work is done systematically on certain projects across all Hrafnist homes designed to improve the working environment and develop the safety and trust is an important part of the quality of life of residents moving to nursing homes. That the resident feels warmth, relief and safety is based on the staff's knowledge of how „home from home“ is created.

Objectives

Hrafnista's main goal is to provide excellent service so that residents, other service recipients and relatives experience safety, trust and well-being To support this goal, work is carried out according to a philosophy that describes what experience, culture and feeling should be created for both service recipients and staff. The philosophy thus describes the service, home atmosphere, culture and the work environment.

Security & Trust

Safety and trust are an important part of the quality of life of individuals moving to a nursing home. That the individual feels warmth, relief and safety is based on staff knowledge of how „home away from home“ is created.

Hrafnistu's staff works to ensure that the experience of residents and relatives is as follows:

  • Hrafnista is my home. Here I feel warm and safe because there is always someone there for me.
  • Here I am listened to and shown respect, care and understanding.
  • We are honest and respect each other's opinions.
  • We work with each individual's strengths, show initiative and are active participants in life.
  • Trust is earned through good cooperation, reliability and courage.

Hrafnista is people's home

Hrafnista emphasizes the homely environment. When designing new homes, we strive to have small units with a shared lounge, dining room and kitchen, but apartments are spacious and bright, where residents can welcome guests to visit their personal space at any time. Part of creating this homely environment is also for residents to bring their own furniture, curtains and bedding, as well as staff not wearing uniforms. Efforts are made to connect the nursing home to the surrounding community with a service center, so-called quality of life core.

Homely environment on Hrafnista

Part of creating a homely feel and providing excellent service is that residents are encouraged to actively participate in decision-making about their well-being. This refers, for example, to when they want to get up, when they want to go to sleep, what they want to wear, participation in meal times and what they want to do during the day. It is also important that staff know the needs of the residents, strive to put themselves in their shoes, be flexible and think about solutions in the service.
