Kristrún Benediktsdóttir, director of Hrafnista Boðaþing in Kópavogur, was recently interviewed by the web media Live now on changes and development in the Boðaþing. Along with expansion in Boðaþing, Hrafnista took over the operation of the service center Boðan this fall, which the town of Kópavogur previously ran. Various changes were made to make the environment more homely, accessible and pleasant for residents, visitors and staff. The buildings have become a much larger whole and create a true quality of life core for older people.
„Approximately a hundred people always come here for lunch and the social work is very well attended. I've found most people to pause longer than before. People come earlier and sit longer A lot of people in our very immediate vicinity take advantage of the facilities. Here, directly opposite, there are rental apartments run by DAS apartments and most of the blocks are built for senior citizens so we are incredibly well located for those who have stopped working and want to break up the day“, Kristrún says in the interview.
„Social work is going on here and a lot of spontaneity. “ We've encouraged that people who come can establish all kinds of things with our support each according to their respective interests. " It's so nice to see what has been created a lot of groups of friends here within the walls. People come alone but then come to some group and make new friends. One woman told me it was so good to come here because here she discovered that it's never too late to make new friends and it's unique to see how new friendships are made", Kristrún tells Live Now.
