Employee for a day stay - Hrafnista Ísafold

Hrafnista Ísafold in Garðabær wishes to hire a day-long employee for 60% part-time on weekdays from August/September to replace them for maternity leave. 

The goal of day care is to maintain individual independence and break social isolation of the elderly Twenty individuals attend the ward daily, 16 general day stays and 4 specialised for people with dementia Emphasis is placed on enabling the individual to live at home and maintain self-sufficiency by offering stimulating and motivating activities.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Support, guide and encourage clients in play and work
• Take part in the maintenance of social activities, cf. reading, crafts, gymnastics, etc.
• Assist in the management of a studio, where various types of handwork are carried out, including knitting, crocheting, painting and drawing
• Communication with clients' families
• Assist in personal hygiene

Educational and competency requirements

• Good communication skills
• An advantage if the person is interested in manual work and is interested in promoting/encouraging clients in that work
• Patience and flexibility
• Initiative and independence in work
• Experience in similar work is an advantage
